AOE/COE

Arising out of Employment / Course of Employment

An AOE/COE investigation is needed to gather the facts of an alleged workers' compensation injury that occurred to an employee, while on the job. The investigation will eventually determine whether the employees's supposed injury occurred at work and happened during the course and scope of employment, or if the injury arose outside of work and/or if it was affected by third parties. A big factor for a successful AOE/COE investigation is the start date. The sooner you start after the workers compensation claim was filed the better. Each day that passes is a detail, or memory lost. Physical evidence can deteriorate, surveillance cameras may have a short save time before its wiped out. As an employer, it is very important to document the claimant's alleged reported injury. You will also want to take down witness statements as soon as possible, prior to people being "coached" by third party workers' compensations attorneys.
